Giving FAQs

Why do we give?

Giving is a principle that is taught throughout the entire Bible. When we tithe and give offerings, we are expressing worship in a tangible way by putting God first in our lives, while allowing us to be a part of the most important work in life—spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ in our community!

What is tithe? What is offering?

The word "tithe" means one tenth or 10%. Tithing is giving the first 10% of our income back to God. The Bible says that everything we have comes from Him, so tithing is returning to God what belongs to Him. When we tithe, we are trusting Him to provide for all of our material needs. An offering is anything we give beyond the 10%.

What does our giving support?

It takes financial resources to accomplish the work God has called us to do. Our tithe and generous offerings enable the Roanoke Church to fulfill its mission to preach the gospel. Our giving, funds the daily operations of the church, supports the many community outreach ministries, and special global projects.
